Anything worse than a hammering headache is a migraine, they both bring your life to a standstill. On the other hand when migraine strikes there are some things you can do to get rid of it or at least make it bearable. Almost three times more women are troubled by migraine as compared to men. In fact many of us may not know but migraines are not restricted to adults but a number of kids also suffer from this headache.

There is a long list of migraine triggers including daily activities like intense physical activity, stress, climbing stairs, oily and fried food, exposure to extreme hot or cold, flickering light and loud sounds. It has also been noticed that migraine headaches hit more often when there is a combination of two or more of the triggers.
We are lucky that modern day medicine has a variety of medical treatments, although none can really relieve you of migraine for good. A number of people choose to take help of alternative medicine such as Yoga or Aromatherapy to get relief from migraine. It can be very effective for individuals who pursue it properly and sincerely.
There are some common suggestions like deep breathing which works well for many. Some people get relief from listening to relaxing music. It is best to listen to soft and low instrumental music to relax the brain. Rest in a room with less light or cover your eyes to ensure minimum exposure to light.
No single migraine treatment has shown to be very useful in most individuals. It is a good idea to consult a specialist to find a solution for migraine headaches as over-the-counter medicines may not be very effective.
